The song "Els Goigs del Roser" were the origen and still are today the center of our festival. The "Els Gooigs del Roser" text, transmitted by oral tradition, literally coincides with the manuscrit 854, fols.113 i manuscrit 854, fols.114 fifteenth century, preserved in the Library of Catalonia, which is the oldest document of the "Els Goigs del Roser".
The song that is sung in Sant Julia is native structure is close to the medieval mode first. The song "Els Goigs del Roser" sing all walking solemnly and slowly, alternating between two rows of Caramellas on both sides of the street; after each verse group intrumental plays back. This triple alternation between the two groups and the orchestra allows sing the song streets and squares, almost without interruption and without fatigue by singers and musicians.
According to ethnologists as Valeri Serra Boldú Aureli Capmany and Joan Amades, singing the joys of the Roser was the origin of the phenomenon caramellaire Old Catalonia and Northern Catalonia since the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Jacint Verdaguer in the article 'Lo cornamusaire' explains that he had practiced it in their youth.
To our knowledge, this practice has been preserved only in Sant Julia de Vilatorta.
