Cross of St. George's Award

The Government of Catalonia has agreed to grant the Cross of St. George for 27 individuals and 13 organizations that have achieved outstanding services to Catalonia in defense of their identity or, more generally, in the civic and cultural.
The Cross of St. George is one of the highest awards that a person can receive from the Government of Catalonia. The award was created in 1981 in order to distinguish the natural or legal persons who, on their merits, have rendered outstanding services in Catalonia. Any citizen or group of citizens entity may request that the award be granted to any person, whether physical or legal.
On 12 April 2016, the government awarded the Cross of St. George to the :

Confraternity Caramelles del Roser of Sant Julià de Vilatorta

To promote the memory and the activity of a party Osona, as a valuable expression of traditional music, dating back to 1590. Caramelles Roser have unique characteristics, such as the clothing or the singing of the joys of the Rosary. At the turn of the nineteenth century attracted the attention of well-known folklorists. Currently, the group has caramellaire a wider range of the country, from celebrations to hymns, folksongs and the social and political issues.
